The breath before the phrase.
by Todd Foley
I’m far more of a control freak than I like to believe, and when significant things suddenly spin out of my control [as per yesterday], I’m left waiting for a resolution to be decided.
Do you struggle with uncertainty? With waiting? I sure do.
As a particular song says, sometimes we just need to throw a fist full of glitter in the air, and wait. That’s where life is found.
I went through the entire day yesterday determined to solve, fix and expedite an issue that came up. At the end of the day, I was exhausted, and nothing had changed.
I woke up this morning and realized that if today was going to be a better experience, I had to accept that the only thing I can control is my perspective. So I choose to be positive. To be hopeful. To be fully present in my work and interactions.
Mantra of the day: Listen. Watch. Wait. Resolution will arrive in due time.
The honest lyrics in this song beautifully personify this struggle.
“It’s only half past the point of no return
The tip of the iceberg
The sun before the burn
The thunder before the lightning
The breath before the phrase”
